The Managing Director of Linfox Airports, David Fox, is an “early selection” for the 2008 Australian Olympic Team competing in Beijing.

Fox has accepted an offer from AOC President John Coates to assume the role of Team Operations Director in Beijing.

“David did an outstanding job for us at the Athens Games and we are delighted he will be a member of our Team again in 2008” Coates said. “He made such an impression last year in Athens that I offered him the Beijing position before we packed up to come home”.

Team Operations is a key role which involves air travel, ground transportation, logistics, freight deliveries and communications. At the 2004 Games, Fox was assisted by Jim Shergold, Wil Arnott and Peter Brockington.

“We had a thousand athletes and officials in Athens, we were one of the biggest Teams at the Games, and thanks to David and his professional team everything went smoothly. Looking after that many people is a difficult task especially in a foreign country, with heavy traffic and a very hot summer” Coates said.

Fox will face similar challenges in Beijing in three years time but said he is “excited by the prospect of being part of another Australian Olympic campaign. “I enjoyed meeting and working with the athletes. It is an honour to be part of such a great bunch of Australians”

Coates said “David is a can-do person and when you have to get athletes to training or to competition venues on time that type of person is essential.”
