The AOC is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Matt Carroll AM as Chief Executive Officer.

The AOC is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Matt Carroll AM as Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Carroll's appointment was the culmination of a global search by recruitment firm, Odgers Berndtson and involved 322 potential candidates.

Mr Carroll is an accomplished senior sports administrator with over 25 years of experience in all aspects of sports administration, including as Deputy CEO, Australian Rugby Union; General Manager, Rugby World Cup 2003; Head of A-League and Community Football, Football Federation Australia; and CEO, Australian Sailing. He was Interim COO and Executive Advisor to Japan Rugby and World Cup 2019 in the early years of preparation for that tournament.

Mr Carroll is uniquely qualified for this role with his experience with stakeholders and management teams in three Olympic sports: rugby, football and sailing.

Mr Carroll's experience working in Japan will be of benefit as the AOC prepares for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea; 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan; 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China; and, pursues first ever invitations to participate in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China and 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
