With less than two months until Tokyo, Aussie Olympians, Tokyo 2020 hopefuls and students are sharing the Olympic Spirit, inspiring communities across the country.

Australian Olympic Change-Maker

Young leaders from around the country are being recognised by their school for demonstrating the Olympic spirit, nominated for the 2021 Australian Olympic Change-Maker program.

More than 200 students have already been nominated, including Northern Territory’s Hannah-Rose Simmonds, who is teaching local Indigenous kids life-saving swimming skills in Nhulunbuy.

You can find out more about the Change-Maker program and nominate students from your school HERE

Village Art

School students have been helping make Tokyo feel like home for our Aussie Olympians – sending through artwork that will go into the Athletes’ Village in Tokyo and bring some inspiration from home.

If you want to see your students’ pictures helping our Olympians, hurry as the Village Art program closes soon!

Olympics Unleashed, presented by Optus

Olympics Unleashed launched in Western Australia, passed 100 schools in South Australia, has been extended for another two years in Queensland.

Triple Olympian and bronze medallist rower Chris Morgan inspired autistic students at Giant Steps and St Lucy’s schools. Chris used his experience on and off the rowing course as an Olympian diagnosed as autistic, to connect with students at the schools, which specialise in educational support for children on the autism spectrum.

Australian Olympic Connect

More than 20,000 students across Japan and Australia are connecting to share their excitement in the lead-up to the Tokyo Olympics, through the Australian Olympic Connect ‘Tomodachi’ program.

More than 300 classrooms in Japan have connected with a reciprocal class in Australia, giving students a communal cultural learning environment where they share their country’s customs, lifestyle and activities and build international friendships.

Walk to School Week

Olympians like Brooke Hanson, Nat Cook, Peter Hadfield, Steph Magiros and Lou Dobson joined thousands of Australians in National Walk Safely to School Day.

The day encourages parents and carers to walk to school with their kids, promote safe pedestrian behaviour and highlight the health benefits of walking and help create regular walking habits at an early age.
