WATER POLO: In the first major test since the August FINA World Championships, the Australian Men’s Water Polo team, the Sharks, will host Japan from 26-30 November in Cronulla.

The Sharks will play three test matches against the Japanese team, who are in Australia as part of a two week tour which will also see them compete against National Water Polo league clubs.

The full Sharks squad will come together for a training camp combined with the three test matches which Head Coach Elvis Fatovic says forms an important part of teams’ preparation for Rio 2016.

“With Rio just over 260 days away we are looking to maximise our opportunities to compete in quality international competitions.

“We are expecting tough games from Japan who too will be using this as a good hit out ahead of their own important Rio milestone, the Asian Olympic Qualifier.

“Combining a team with international level competition will help us to take stock of how the team are tracking. This marks the start of a busy schedule for our team players as next month we will face Italy, ranked third in the world, here at home as part of Water Polo by the Sea and test matches,” said Fatovic.

The squad will head in to camp on Thursday 26 November with the first test match against Japan taking place at 6:30pm Friday 27 November at Sutherland Leisure Centre. Gates open to the public for $2 entry.
