SNOWBOARD: Mahalah Mullins has pulled off the best result of her career just three weeks out from the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

The slopestyle snowboarder claimed ninth in the World Cup event at Mammoth Mountain in California as she finalises her preparations to wear the green and gold in Norway.

"It's pretty nice to get the result," said the 17-year-old from Albury.

"It's cool to start edging closer to the top spots."

In what were difficult conditions, Mullins was able to post a score that was the second highest for YOG eligible athletes.

"It wasn't really the run I wanted coming into the event, but weather and conditions meant all the riders had to adapt and I was happy to be able to put down a run."

With the biggest event of her life just around the corner, Mullins is set to gain a lot from the positive result.

"Good and bad results are both equally valuable experiences but good results are definitely good for confidence."

Mullins will compete alongside Emily Arthur in both the halfpipe and slopestyle events in Lillehammer.

The pair will join 15 other Aussies to take on the world's finest juniors at the home of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games.
