The Australian sailing team's Olympic preparations have been boosted, with the opening of a new national training centre in Sydney.
The venue, at Middle Harbour Yacht Club, has space for athletes and coaches to analyse performances in minute detail using video and computer software.
There's a workshop and new storage space for vessels and equipment.
Beijing gold medallist Malcolm Page said it will also be a place for the nation's star-studded team to call home.
"Most rugby teams or footy teams have a home ground and, in many ways, this is our home ground now," the veteran 470 class sailor told AAP.
Australian sailing team head coach, Victor Kovalenko added: "It's not only a home stadium, it's a place where they will spend most of their life.
"Before, when we were training, all of our life was in the boot of the car, all sailing gear, all spare equipment, all sails.
"Now at least we have some place where we can put all this and say 'hey this is our national training centre, this is the centre of excellence'."
The Australian team is targeting five medals from the London Olympics and will spend a substantial amount of time at the training centre finetuning preparations for the London 2012 Games.
The location was chosen because of its fast access to open and closed water conditions.
Yachting Australia hopes the training centre plays a key role bringing through the next generation of elite sailors.
The Australian Institute of Sport is providing a Sydney-based performance analyst to work at the centre.
