There were 27 secondary and college school students from the ACT and region presented Pierre de Coubertin awards last week.
The awards are named after the founder of the modern Olympic Games and are presented annually by the ACT Olympic Council (ACTOC) as part of its Olympic education program.
Students who have participated in school physical education programs are invited to create a piece of work, literary or artistic, depicting an appreciation of the Olympic Games, and each participating school then nominates a student from years 10, 11 or 12 for an award.
ACTOC president Robin Poke said the number of entries received for this year's awards scheme was a record.
''The entries, in the form of essays, pictures and collages, expressed not just an enthusiasm but indeed a passion for the Olympic Games,'' he said.
