CoSport and the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) announced today the timeline for the initial launch of ticket sales for the London 2012 Olympic Games. CoSport has been appointed by the AOC as its exclusive authorised ticket reseller and hospitality package provider for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The first phase of tickets sales will be handled exclusively through an on-line request phase at www.cosport.com.au which will begin on March 16, 2011 and runs through April 22, 2011 (12:00 midnight, USA Eastern time zone). During this request phase all applicants will have an equal chance of being awarded requested tickets. CoSport will begin to fulfil ticket requests from available inventory once this initial request phase has concluded. In the case that ticket requests exceed available inventory for any session, a lottery process will be conducted by CoSport at the end of April.
“There is a special connection between London and Australia, and we are excited about the London 2012 Games”, said Mr. John Coates, AC, President of the AOC, “I hope many Australians will be on hand to support our athletes and cheer them on to achieving their best.”
For the initial ticket launch in Australia, more than 29,000 tickets will be available for purchase to over 650 sporting sessions. The least expensive tickets will be priced at AUD$45, and will be for preliminary rounds in the sports of beach volleyball, basketball, tennis, football and athletics. Half of the tickets offered during this initial phase will be priced under AUD$150.
CoSport currently plans to commence a second phase of sales in June 2011, which will be first-come, first-serve for any tickets unsold during the first phase of sales as well as any additional tickets that CoSport acquires from the London Organising Committee in the future.
For customers interested in a hospitality packages, CoSport expects to begin on-line sales of hospitality packages later in the month of March 2011. The hospitality packages will combine hotel rooms with Olympic tickets thus allowing customers a single purchase to create their Olympic program in London. Unlike ticket sales there is no request phase and all sales phases of hospitality packages will be live sales on a first-come, first-serve basis.
