GYMNASTICS: Having benefited greatly from the advice of multiple gold medallist Naazmi Johnston four years ago in Delhi, Danielle Prince is looking forward to playing the senior role in the Australian rhythmic gymnastics team at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Prince clinched the national title in Melbourne this week and will headline a three-strong Australian squad alongside Jaelle Cohen and Amy Quinn in Glasgow.

Prince is the only remaining member of the team which won gold four years ago in Delhi, with Canada and England expected to provide tougher competition this time around.

The favourite for the individual all-round title will be Canadian Patricia Bouzzabenko.

Johnston retired after being the public face of the squad in Delhi where she claimed three gold and two silver medals.

"Having the experience of Naazmi there in Delhi really helped me," the 21-year-old Prince told AAP.

"I really hope to be able to do the same for Amy, who hasn't been to any of these events yet.

"Jaelle and I have been to several world championships which is great preparation for a big event like this."

Prince just missed out on selection for the London Olympics, with the selectors favouring Janine Murray.

"That definitely pushed me to want to get to Glasgow even more," said the Queenslander.

Prince is also targeting the world championships in Turkey later this year and hopes to stay in the sport through to the 2016 Rio Olympics.
