Alex Pullin has finished in tenth place in the World Cup snowboard cross final in Valmalenco, Italy, ending the season in 12th place on the World Cup standings. AIS team-mate Damon Hayler was one place further back on the World Cup points table, after finishing in 31st place in the 2008/09 finale.

AIS team-mate Damon Hayler was one place further back on the World Cup points table, after finishing in 31st place in the 2008/09 finale.

Pullin qualified in fifth place in Valmalenco, then won his opening head-to-head round of 32 encounter before going out in the quarter-final round.

Hayler also squeezed into the 32-man final group, in 31st position, but went out in his first head-to-head race.

Czech rider Michal Novotny won the final gold on offer, from Nick Baumgartner of the USA.

Austria’s Markus Schairer had already wrapped up the World Cup title a week earlier, ending the season with a 1440  point buffer over US rider Seth Westcott.
