Russian biathlete silver medallist Olga Pyleva has failed a doping test, the first such case during the Torino Games, an IOC official said today.
Russian biathlete Olga Pyleva, who won the silver medal in the women's 15km race, has failed a doping test at the Winter Olympics, the first such case during the Games, an IOC official said today.
The official said both samples taken from Pylova tested positive for the stimulant Carphedon.
The 30-year-old will appear before the IOC disciplinary commission later today 16 February (Day 6).
Pyleva had been due to start in the biathlon 7.5km sprint but was withdrawn shortly before the start of the event.
The gold medal in the 15km was won by her compatriot Svetlana Ishmouratova.
The Russian won gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics in the pursuit and was world champion biathlete in 2004.
