FREESTYLE: Halfpipe skiers Amy Sheehan and Davina Williams have both qualified for tomorrow’s World Cup final in Calgary, Canada.

Competing in the qualification round earlier today, Sheehan, 27, who is currently ranked 11th in the world, recorded a career best third highest score in the session, placing her in the 12-women final.

Sheehan last appeared in a final in first round of this season’s World Cup in Cardona, New Zealand, in August but missed the cut in the second stop of the tour in Copper Mountain, USA, in December, finishing 14th overall.

Sheehan’s Calgary qualification score from the five judges was 76.4, which was achieved in the first of two runs for the session, while Canadian Megan Gunning earned 81.2 points, topping the leader’s board ahead of Switzerland’s Virginie Faivre, who enters the final one place lower on 77.8 points.

Twenty-eight-year-old Williams, ranked 18th in the world, displayed strong consistency with a 73 point first run, followed with an improved 74.2 in her second time down the pipe, guaranteeing Australia two places in the top 6, the best combined qualification performances for the season.

The halfpipe final will take place Saturday morning Australian Time, with moguls qualification Sunday morning.
