Damon Hayler and Alex Pullin have both been eliminated in the quarter final round of the World Cup in Leysin, Switzerland, a disappointment for Hayler in particular, who had posted his best qualifying result for the season.

The 31-year-old Torino Olympian recorded the seventh fastest time in the qualifying round, with OWI team-mate Pullin in 27th place.

In the quarter-final round, Hayler finished in fourth place in his group behind eventual silver medallist David Speiser, while Pullin was in third place in his group.

The result put Hayler in 23rd place overall, with Pullin finishing in 30th place.

The event was won by Mario Fuchs of Austria,

Pullin retains his position in the world’s top ten in tenth place on 912 points. Norway’s Stian Sivertzen leads the rankings on 2560 points, from Fuchs on 2170.

Hayler is in 46th place on 100 points.

The next snowboard cross World Cup will be in Sungwoo, Korea, on February 15.
