ALPINE SKIING: Greta Small will get Australia’s PyeongChang 2018 alpine skiing campaign underway today at YongPyong.
The speedster is Australia’s only female representative in the sport at the 2018 Games and will be looking to build on a strong Olympic debut when she was just 18 in Sochi.
Small will today line up in the event that Zali Steggall famously won Australia’s first individual medal in at the Nagano 1998 Winter Olympics – the slalom.
Now 22, Small has had some ups and downs, especially over the past two seasons, but is now looking forward to again lining up in Olympic competition.
"It's been a rollercoaster four years for me from Sochi to PyeongChang," Small said.
"It definitely didn't go how I would have envisioned it but I'm here, ready to go and ready to get some fast skiing out there."
Despite having competed in PyeongChang before, there has been limited time to get use to the courses due to windy conditions delaying other alpine events.
"We have been battling the elements with extreme wind and cold temps.
"I'm super stoked to be back on the Olympic stage though and ready to go for it in the slalom."
The competition begins at 12:15pm (AEDT) with Small the 50th down the slope.
