Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin has held onto his top ten ranking, despite finishing down the field in the final pre-Olympic snowboard cross World Cup in Stoneham, Canada.

Pullin and his AIS team-mate Damon Hayler both qualified for the finals, Hayler in 11th place and Pullin in 21st, but both went out in the first round of the head-to-head finals.

Both were also playing it safe in the lead-up to the Vancouver Games, especially in the wake of a possible season-ending injury to halfpipe team-mate Nate Johnstone.

Pullin slipped from seventh place on the World Cup standings to eighth, sitting on 1380 points, while hayler is in 21st place on 660 points.

French rider Pierre Vaultier has a massive lead in the race for the crystal globe after winning four of the five events and finishing second in the other.

He sits on 4800 points, with US rider Graham Watanabe in second place on 2120.

Ski & Snowboard rider Stephanie Hickey failed to make the finals after crashing out in qualifying.
