The Swedish women’s ice hockey team has opened their Olympic campaign in style with a 3-0 win over Switzerland at the UBC Thunderbird Arena this afternoon.

Sweden, who won the silver medal four years ago in Torino and are once again favoured to stand on the medal dais, scored a goal in each of the three periods to sweep aside the gallant Swiss team.

Danijela Rundqvist opened the scoring before Tina Enstrom and Erica Uden Johansson added to the scoreboard.

Sweden will face Slovakia in their next group match on Day 4 (Monday 15 February).
