Sydney will once again be touched by Olympic spirit as the Harbour City celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the 2000 Summer Games.

Wednesday's celebrations will kick off at 7.30am (AEST) with a breakfast fundraising event for the 2012 Australian Olympic Team heading to London, and will culminate with a dinner held to honour the sporting heroes who thrilled the nation for 17 magical days a decade ago.

Lord Sebastian Coe, Chairman of the London 2012 Games, will deliver an exclusive progress update to the audience at the breakfast, while Australian Olympic Committee President John Coates will also give an address.

Celebrations will then head to ANZ Stadium where 1,200 primary school children from 21 NSW schools will get a lesson about Olympic values and ceremonial symbols.

Beach volleyball Olympic Champion Natalie Cook, among other Olympians and Paralympians will be on hand to take classes.

Next, thousands of volunteers, whose courteous and upbeat personas wowed the world in 2000, will dust off their official attire for a trip down memory lane.

From 1.30pm, volunteers will be able to come together at Sydney Olympic Park to re-live some of the magic of Sydney 2000 on the big screen.

A special concert, open to all, will be held at The Overflow Park at Sydney Olympic Park where video highlights from the games will be played, as well as interviews with athletes and musical performances from the ceremonies.

Official proceedings will begin at 5.30pm where the public will be able to watch the Olympic cauldron be re-ignited by Cathy Freeman and Louise Sauvage. That will bring celebrations to the Sydney 2000 10th Anniversary Celebration Dinner, a special event for Olympians and Paralympians to reunite.

The Members of the Sydney 2000 Bid and Organising Committee Boards will also be honoured.
