Breaking Oceania Championships coming to Sydney

This October the QMS 2023 WDSF Oceania Breaking Championships (OBC) is set to take place in Sydney, a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The best b-girls and b-boys from all over Oceania will be on display at Sydney Town Hall on Friday 27th - Saturday 28th October, where spots to compete at the first Olympic breaking competition in Paris will be up for grabs.

QMS, the official out of home media partner of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), is proud to present the OBC organised by AUSBreaking and DanceSport Australia - with the support of the AOC, Olympic Solidarity, and World DanceSport Federation.

The OBC is the first and only regional championships for breaking in Oceania. The winners of the solo b-girl and solo b-boy disciplines will earn a spot in the top 16 of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Tickets are available now!

The event aims to promote breaking as a sport, art form, and lifestyle that fosters social inclusion, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange. This is a great event for families and individuals of all ages.

Between 12pm-4pm on Friday 27 October the preliminaries will be staged to determine the top 16 b-girls and b-boys. Then between 12pm-7pm on Saturday 28 October the top 16 will clash in head-to-head battles to see who will be crowned the Oceania champions.

Breaking, one of the four elements of hip hop culture, originated in the streets of New York in the 1970s. It is a dynamic and expressive dance form that involves acrobatic movements, musicality, and creativity. Breaking has grown into a global phenomenon, with millions of practitioners and fans around the world.
