Emerging Queensland triathlon star Gillian Backhouse has scored an emotionally charged bronze medal to claim her first ITU World Triathlon Series podium finish in freezing conditions in Edmonton.

The Australian Olympic Committee acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this nation.
