Australian diver Hannah Thek slipped to seventh after the 10m platform this evening having headed into the evening session in fourth place.

The eventual winner was China’s Lui Jiao with a total score of 479.60. She took gold from Malaysian Pamg Pandelela (silver, 454.35) and North Korean Sin Ji Hyang (bronze, 430.20).

Positive diving towards the end of the morning session had catapulted Thek from sixth to fourth but she was unable to hold the position after the first dive of the evening.

She finished the day with a total score of 375.75.

Scoring fives and sixes throughout her four evening dives, Thek was unlucky not scored higher with some of her more technical moves providing loud cheers from the packed house at Tao Payoh Swimming Centre.

Coach Mathew Helm said he was happy with his diver's performance.

"I'm happy with how Hannah dived, I think she will probably be a bit disapointed but it's all experience and that's what I'll be saying to her," Helm said.

"She was right in it with two dives to go and she is certainly good enough to push into the top three.

"But it is all a learning experience, Hannah will be able to take a lot away this entire experience."

Thek’s next event is the 3m springboard which she will contest on Monday.
