Emily Thomas has led the Australian challenge in the opening snowboard cross event at the World Snowboard Championship, placing 22nd in a field of 41 riders.
Ski and Snowboard Australia team-mate Johanna Shaw was in 30th place and Stephanie Hickey 34th.
Thomas recorded a one minute 50.13 seconds fastest run in the two run qualification round to miss the 16 woman final.
The event was won by Lindsey Jacobellis of the United States from snowboard legend Karine Ruby, with Maelle Ricker of Canada taking the bronze.
In the men’s event, Damon Haylor was the best of the Australians, finishing in 29th place. Kai Robrahn was 43rd, Taan Robrahn 53rd and Alex Pullin 54th.
Seth Westcott of the United States took the gold medal from Francis Boivin of Canada, with US rider Jayson Hale collecting bronze.
