SNOWBOARD - HALFPIPE: Hannah Trigger breezed into Sochi overnight with a laid back Hawaiian kind of charm.

SNOWBOARD - HALFPIPE: Hannah Trigger breezed into Sochi overnight with a laid back Hawaiian kind of charm.

From the epic smile stretched across her face, you'd never guess she has battled through two blown ACLs, six surgeries, nine broken bones and fractures over the course of her career.

"I'm so excited to be here- I'm pinching myself to see if it's true," she beamed.

When the 26-year-old Victorian was finally selected in her first Olympic Team just weeks ago, Trigger described it as "the greatest moment of my life."

Now here she was arriving in Sochi from Breckenridge, USA via Frankfurt, Germany- a journey she paced over two days.

Lugging three snowboards, boots, bindings and a helmet- the one thing missing was a surfboard.

Trigger's dad and uncle are established surfers and run their own business making surfboards in Victoria.

Already a surfer by the age of six, Hannah went to Mt Hotham with her dad and got hooked on snowboarding virtually as she started primary school.

"I just love being outdoors really," the first-time Olympian said in Sochi.

"Riding the Halfpipe is a lot of fun- learning new tricks and getting air time."

Olympic Champion Torah Bright and former World Champion Holly Crawford headline the Australian women's Halfpipe contingent, with rookie Steph Magiros the fourth Australian.

"It's definitely good to ride with them (Torah and Holly) because they're awesome," Trigger said.

"They're the best in the world and I try to be like them."

As for whether her surfing helps her snowboarding, Trigger lamented "unfortunately no surfboard on this trip!"

"They're not as similar as Skateboarding and Snowboarding, but they're definitely both really fun things to do and I go surfing as much as I can when I'm at home."

As calmly as she rolled through  Sochi airport, Trigger raced up towards Rosa Khutor to find out if the Olympic Village could be as good as her fellow Olympians made it out to be.
