Ami Wallace has led the performances of Australia's fledgling AIS/OWI skeleton team in the America's Cup race in Lake Placid this morning, producing the first top ten result of the season. Wallace finished in eighth place in a time of one minute 58.27 seconds, 2.71 seconds behind race winner Annie O'Shea of the USA,.

Ami Wallace has led the performances of Australia's fledgling AIS/OWI skeleton team in the America's Cup race in Lake Placid this morning, producing the first top ten result of the season.

Wallace finished in eighth place in a time of one minute 58.27 seconds, 2.71 seconds behind race winner Annie O'Shea of the USA,.

The Mackay 19-year-old was once again one of the fastest starters in the field, ranking second in the first run and third in the second run.

In the first run she was still ranking third at the fourth intermediate stage, before an error on the lower section of the course relegated her to tenth. In her second run she improved to post the seventh fastest time.

Fellow Queenslander Teniele Richards was the next best of the Australians, finishing in 14th place overall, 4.15 seconds behind the winner, with Lucy Chaffer in equal 15th place and Renee McCabe in 17th position.

The next America's Cup event will be in Park City from December 13 - 21.
