The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) is delighted to announce the Welcome Home Celebrations for the 2016 Australian Olympic Team.

In announcing the celebrations, the 2016 Australian Olympic Team Chef de Mission Kitty Chiller said “We are thrilled the Welcome Home Celebrations are happening as we are excited to thank the Australian communities who supported our Team.

"We are delighted with the generosity from all of Australia’s State Premiers, and Lord Mayors of our capital cities, who are sharing the Olympic spirit in hosting the celebrations”

“We are all very proud of the way our 2016 Team competed in Rio look forward to the opportunity to thank Australia for their enthusiastic support”.

Each of the celebrations will feature many of the 422 Australian athletes that wore the green and gold in Rio and will give them the chance to thank the Australian puclic for their overwhelming support.

The schedule for the Welcome Home Celebrations is:

Monday 29 August – 12.30pm, Sydney Opera House concourse forecourt

Wednesday 31 August – 12.00pm, Melbourne, Bourke St Mall, outside Adidas Store

Thursday 1 September – 12.00pm, Adelaide, Victoria Square

Friday 2 September – 11.30am, Brisbane, Queen Street Mall

Saturday 3 September – 12.00pm Hobart, Parliament Gardens

Sunday 4 September – 12.00pm Perth, Forrest Place

Monday 5 September – 12.00pm Canberra, School’s event (not public)

*An event in Darwin will be planned at a later date.
