In an impressive comeback season, Belle Brockhoff has continued her podium streak winning back-to-back medals over the weekend at the FIS World Cup snowboard cross in Big White, Canada.
Brockhoff, who has overcome two ACL reconstructions over the past two years, has returned to the World Cup tour in peak form.
After finishing with a silver medal on day one of competition, the 27-year-old claimed victory in a nail-biting finish on day two, edging out Olympic champion Michela Moioli by .08 of a second.
“It is absolutely unreal! It’s more than just a win for me, I have come back from two ACL blowouts and this is just so huge! I am very happy,” Brockhoff said.
“The work I have put in over the last two years out of the sport has shown. It’s different for me too, my mind is looking at things differently and its super calm.”
Brockhoff has achieved an impressive 10 World Cup podiums in her career (4 Gold, 4 Silver, 2 Bronze), three of which she has claimed in this season alone.
Over the weekend, the Australian mogul team competed in their first World Cup event of 2020 in Mont-Tremblant, Canada.
The tricky conditions saw two athletes advance to the super finals, with Jakara Anthony and Matthew Graham finishing in 4th and 5th respectively.
Narrowly missing out on a super final position was fellow OWIA athlete, Brodie Summers, who finished the day in 7th place.
The mogul team is now heading to Calgary, Canada for their next event on Feb 01.
Tess Coady also returned from injury in impeccable form over the weekend, winning Australia’s first World Cup slopestyle Gold medal in Seiser Alm, Italy.
After qualifying in third place, the 19-year-old put down a seamless run which put her into the gold medal position. You can read more about Tess Coady’s performance HERE.
