The QOC launched the 2003 Pierre de Coubertin Awards at Wynnum State High School in Brisbane in March, a school known for its extensive support of the Olympic Movement.

The awards were launched by softball Olympian and former student Carolyn Crudgington and Minister for Innovation and Information Economy Hon Paul Lucas MP.

The school has six former students who are Olympians, Warner Bachelor (1956 Boxing), Carolyn Crudgington (1996 Softball), Samantha Riley (1992 / 1996 Swimming), Robbie Peden (1996 Boxing), Caroline Hildreth (1996 Swimming) and Robin Forbes (2000 Trampolining). Another former student Phil Ballard designed the apparatus that carried the 1956 Olympic Torch between Athens and Darwin.

The Olympians Club encourages all Olympians to make contact with their previous schools to instill the ideals of Olympism into the lifestyles of young Australians.
