About Amelie

Snowboarder Amelie Haskell has moved confidently from Youth Olympic Games, to World Cup and World Championships starts in the space of a year. Now she has earnt her place at the Olympic Games, where she will compete in the Milano Cortina halfpipe at 18 years of age. The month before the Games, she achieved her best World Cup result when she was eighth at Buttermilk, USA.

Amelie is one of Australia’s new and upcoming talents in women’s snowboard halfpipe. Recently selected as part of Snow Australia’s Emerging Talent Program, she has progressed quickly and is beginning to yield international results.

Amelie’s first major multi-sport experience came at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon in 2024, where she represented Australia in the women’s halfpipe. She placed 11th in qualification at Welli Hilli Park, just outside the cut for the final.

Before her Youth Olympic selection, Amelie was already building a strong record at international events. In early 2024 she placed fourth in the US National Championships halfpipe competition at Copper Mountain and then claimed second a FIS sanctioned halfpipe competition at Mammoth Mountain in California, these results signalled her ability to mix it with elite level competition.

She stepped up to World Cup level the following northern winter and made her World Cup debut at Copper Mountain in December 2024, gaining valuable experience in a deep international field. She then produced a breakthrough at the World Cup in Aspen in February 2025, finishing 13th after a composed qualification run, a standout performance in just her second World Cup start.

Alongside World Cups, Amelie continued to sharpen her riding on the North American circuit. She reached the podium with third place in the women’s halfpipe at Mammoth Mountain and added a fifth at the WinSport Calgary stop, underscoring her consistency across venues.

Her progress was recognised with World Championships selection for Engadin 2025, where she lined up with Australia’s senior halfpipe squad. On debut, Amelie placed 23rd in qualification, an important marker in her first appearance at that level. She rounded out the spring with her first European Cup start at Corvatsch, finishing sixth, experience that broadened her competitive base ahead of future seasons.

The 2024–25 season brought further acknowledgement at home. Amelie was named Snowboard Halfpipe Female Athlete of the Year and also Snowboard Halfpipe Junior Athlete of the Year at the Snow Australia Awards, reflecting her rapid rise through the ranks.

Amelie has been in good form across the 2025-26 World Cup season. She was 19th in Copper Mountain, 18th in Calgary and then a big step up to finish eighth at the Buttermilk World Cup, one month out from her Olympic debut.

With a growing bank of experience on the world tour and a proven ability to deliver at continental level, she will take to the Olympic halfpipe and represent the momentum in Australia’s women’s halfpipe programme.
