About Sidney
Sidney Stephens was called into the Australian Winter Olympic Team to make her debut in Milano Cortina on the eve of the Aerials competition.
It was a rapid ascension for the former gymnast who was born in South Africa but grew up in Western Australia.
At the age of 18, Stephens traded her international gymnastics career for aerial skiing. Since 2021 Stephens has refined her trade at Brisbane’s Geoff Henke Olympic Winter Training Centre.
Two years later Stephens made her international Aerials debut competing at the Nor-Am Cup, European Cup and the 2023 FIS Junior World Championships in Austria, finishing seventh.
Stephens came back from a partial ACL knee injury in 2024 to finish second in the NorAm event at Utah Olympic Park in 2025 – a career highlight. Stephens shared the podium with teammate Elise Coleiro.
Her best World Cup result to-date is 11th place at Lac-Beauport, Canada in January 2026.
The West Australian balances her athletic pursuits with a Bachelor of Psychological Science at Griffith University.
Her sporting hero is former world record holder in the marathon, Eliud Kipchoge because he lives out her favourite quote “entitled to nothing, grateful for everything.”
