BIATHLON: In heavy snow on the slopes of Antholz, Italy, Alexei Almoukov emerged from the snow with his head held high.
The conditions may not have suited him, but Almoukov produced a tough showing to finish 84th out of 100 finishers in the Biathlon World Cup 10km Sprint.
Twenty four hours later, Almoukov crossed the line in 35th position at IBU Cup 6 in Ruhpolding, Germany (5.3% behind).
Pushing his body to the limit, the 2010 Olympian is steadily building form ahead of Sochi 2014- he just hopes he will be on that Olympic start line. Due to the International Biathlon Union's qualification policy, Almoukov’s Sochi hopes still rest in the hands of other nations >>>
Also in Ruhpolding, Australian Daniel Walker finished 94th (18.7%) and Dyllan Harmer was 100th (23.3%) in the men’s 10km Sprint race.
Battling a cold, Glanville represented Australia in the women’s 7.5km Sprint in Ruhpolding. Glanville pushed through the pain to finish 71st out of 73 finishers. Glanville was 38.1% behind the winner- Germany’s Kathrin Lang.
