An Australian Record has culminated in a silver medal for Eleanor Patterson, with Ash Moloney also securing bronze at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, headlining this week in athletics.
Eleanor Patterson
Eleanor cleared 2.00m in the high jump at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia to claim silver, adding one centimetre to the Australian Record which she set last month.

Only Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh beat Eleanor to the gold medal, taking out the title with a 2.02m clearance.

Ash Moloney
After winning bronze at Tokyo 2020 in the decathlon, Ash has delivered another bronze medal winning performance on the world stage, this time setting an Australian Heptathlon Record at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.
The competition came down to the final event, the 1000m, to settle on the medallists. Ash finished the race in a strong time of 2:43.01 to edge out fourth and fifth and to be just nine points short of the silver medallist Simon Ehammer (SUI).

Chris Douglas
It was an Australian Team debut to remember for US based hurdler Chris Douglas in the 60m hurdles at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.
He smashed his national indoor record with a 7.56 in his second run, which is 0.05 lower than when Chris set the record last month. In the final he placed fifth in a time of 7.61.
