RUGBY SEVENS: The Australian Women's Sevens side know the time for talk is over.
The World Series kicks off in Dubai on Thursday afternoon (AEDT) and after a rigorous preseason - which featured a stellar inaugural Aon Uni 7s series - Cassie Staples expects the Aussies to fire from the opening whistle.
"Consistency and winning, I think," Staples said when asked what to expect from the Australians.
"We have got a bit of grunt coming off the Aon series and everyone has had some game time.
"I'm confident in the team and in myself as well."
Staples said the team had not had any blips in their preparation in Dubai, apart from rookie Page McGregor losing the team mascot three times.
"I'm looking forward to my first run in Dubai and I'm hoping to come away with the gold for the girls," Staples said.
"It's been amazing, so far, it's a beautiful country, it's really friendly, clean, it's been awesome so far.
"The girls have transitioned really well.
"Everyone has been really positive and had each others back at training."
McGregor didn't think in her wildest dreams that she would be making her World Series debut but a standout tournament for Macquarie University in the Uni 7s series convinced Tim Walsh she is ready to take on the world's best.
"I didn't think I would be but I am so glad that I am here," McGregor said.
"The preparation has been so good, training with the girls.
"This has been our second session and it's our last one - we are ready to go.
McGregor said the side would be playing the Australian women's way come their first match of the tournament, against Japan on Thursday night.
"We are high speed, very skillful and we are ruthless into contact," she said.
"It's the Australian women's way."
