Aussies get redemption over Italy in World League Final
The Aussie Women's Water polo team have claimed redemption against Italy tonight at the World League Final, after a 13-7 win.

WATER POLO: The Aussie Stingers have claimed redemption against Italy tonight at the World League Final, after a 13-7 win.

After the suffering a loss to the Italians at the 2015 World Championships in the bronze medal play-off, the Aussies were determined to get redemption and came out firing.

It was the boost the Stingers were hoping for ahead of the Rio Olympics where they are set to face Italy in their second preliminary game.

The Aussies lead from the outset getting out to a 3-1 lead at quarter time, this was as close as the Italians got to the Aussies with the Stingers outscoring Italy in every quarter.

The third straight win for the Aussies puts them on top of their pool at the end of the preliminaries and they will now head into tomorrow’s quarter final taking on Brazil

Australian Women’s Head Coach Greg McFadden said his side was very impressive today

“The girls played their best game on tour so far,” he said.

“Todays result was excellent"

“Everyone contributed and we controlled the game from start to finish,” said McFadden.

Rio hopeful Isobel Bishop joint top scored for the Aussies with 3 goals said the Aussies played a good team game today

“Everything started to come together today,” she said.

“Everyone lifted and played really well"

“We are really excited to play the quarters tomorrow,” said Bishop
