FOOTBALL: Australia have gone down 1-0 to England in their final match of their short tour of China in a tightly fought match in Chonqqing.
Isobel Christiansen scored the only goal of the match early in the second half of Tuesday night's international friendly.
Emily van Egmond had Australia's best chance to equalise but headed over the bar from six metres out on the hour mark.
The Australian-based Matildas will return home to resume W-League commitments.
The team will try to return to Olympic competition through the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan next month.
