Australian downhill skier Craig Branch has narrowly missed a top 60 per cent of field qualifying result for the Torino Winter Olympic Games team, finishing in 43rd place in the downhill in Val d'Isere, France. Team-mate AJ Bear was eight places further back in 51st position.

Last weekend Branch had finished in 34th place in the downhill in Beaver Creek, the best result of his career, and also posted a personal best 32nd in the super G at the Colorado event.

Either Bear or Branch will line up with fellow NSW skier Luke Deane to contest the Val d'Isere super G event on Monday morning AEST.
