Esther Bottomley has led the Australian cross country charge once again, finishing seventh in the Swiss City-Sprint event in St Gallen over the weekend. Bottomley just squeezed into the semi-finals, but came up against a tough field of Isabel Klaus and Anke Reschwamm from Germany and Flurina Bachmann from Switzerland.

She was still in contact coming into the final corner but had too much ground to make up from fourth place and was relegated to the B-Final. Klaus and Bachmann went on to take gold and silver in the A-finals.

In the B-Final Bottomley stormed out to take the lead from the worst lane, and led for the first lap before fading to third. (Story with the assistance of the XC Files).
