CROSS COUNTRY: Dual Olympian Esther Bottomley has recorded her best ever FIS World Cup points at the Davos World Cup in Switzerland.
The 30-year-old was 63rd with 72.1 FIS points, 7.1 seconds outside the top 30 in the women's Sprint.
Sochi hopeful Phillip Bellingham was 68th in the men’s Sprint with 71.6 FIS points, just 3.1 seconds outside of qualifying for finals in the top 30.
Callum Watson and Paul Kovacs were 91st and 94th respectively in the men’s time trial, while Aimee Watson was 74th in the women’s time trial.
The Watsons and Kovacs were backing up after tough distance World Cup events the previous day. Aimee had finished 59th in the 15km Freestyle with 133.7 FIS points (16.7% back). Callum and Kovacs were 63rd and 68th respectively in the 30km Freestyle, with FIS points of 95.51 and 150.97 (11.9% and 18.8%).
From here the three men travel to Val di Fiemme in Italy with World Cup Coach August Teague to join the rest of the Australian Team at the Winter Universiade. Aimee heads to Gressoney in Italy for an OPA Cup, and Bottomley remains in her happy hunting ground of Davos for a training block.
