Craig Branch has made the second top 30 result of the season and his career, finishing in a tie for 29th place alongside Robbie Dixon of Canada and Andrej Sporn of Slovenia in the World Cup downhill in Chamonix.

Craig Branch has made the second top 30 result of the season and his career, finishing in a tie for 29th place alongside Robbie Dixon of Canada and Andrej Sporn of Slovenia in the World Cup downhill in Chamonix.

All three ski racers recorded a time of two minutes 2.13 seconds down the French resort’s 3.37km Verte course, 2.02 seconds behind race winner Marco Sullivan of the USA.

It was the first World Cup victory for Sullivan, and his second World Cup podium.

World Cup downhill defending champion and current points leader Didier Cuche of Switzerland took the silver medal, stretching his lead in the race for the title.

Cuche sits on 464 points, 65 clear of US skier Bode Miller, with Austrian Michael Walchhofer in third position on 343 points.
