Competing in his first major international event since January 2005, Jono Brauer has made a solid start to the season, placing 24th in a Europa Cup indoor slalom race in Landgraaf, The Netherlands.

Although not an Olympic qualifying event Brauer attacked the knock-out event on the icy slope of the indoor SnowWorld complex with his normal aggressive approach. In a field size of 105, the New South Wales skied to 13th place in the qualifying run, 0.71 seconds behind the leading skier.

In the second run several errors cost him time and he was knocked out of the event, finishing overall with 24th place. The event was won by Mattias Hargin of Sweden.

Brauer, who has struggled with patellar tendonitis, pulled up from the event in good physical condition. He now joins team mate Bradley Wall in Nakiska, Canada, to prepare for his first World Cup slalom on December 4 at Beaver Creek, USA

Meanwhile, the men’s speed group of AJ Bear, Craig Branch and Luke Deane meet up with coach Michael Branch for a training camp in Panorama, Canada, on November 10, leading up to the opening World Cup downhill and super G events on November 26 and 27 in Lake Louise, Canada.
