Jono Brauer’s season is doubt following a recurrence of patella tendonitis after his return to Europe in December.

Brauer reports that the pain of the condition has become so intense that he is “unable to ski slalom for more than a day a week”.

“Even when i am skiing other disciplines, I am limited to a maximum of three on-snow days a week,” Brauer says.

“I will try to compete in the super combined event in Wengen (Switzerland) next week.”
“If i am still able to ski reasonably well and have the opportunity to make a result, I will continue on to Chamonix and Val d’Isere in France where the remaining two World Cup super combis are.”

“I would then travel home after these races in early February to get the necessary operation done. if things don't pan out well in Wengen, then I will be on the next plane home to get the surgery done sooner.”

“Post-surgery I am looking at a 6-9 month recovery time before I am pain free again, but skiing after will be skiing after 5-6 months, hopefully. This will put me in good shape for the first on-snow training camps of the off season.”

“I am bitterly disappointed with how everything has panned out so far this season, as I have been skiing well in the lead-up to the season and also in the early races.”
“Unfortunately, that’s just the hand I have been dealt.”
