Jono Brauer has had one of the best results of his career, finishing just 2.53 seconds off the pace in the first run of the World Cup slalom in Flachau, Austria.
Brauer finished in 41st position, and although he has had better placings before – with 33rd his best - his time behind the first run leader was the closest in 22 starts.
The race was won by Italian Giorgio Rocca, with first run leader Rainer Schoenfelder of Austria taking silver. Alois Vogl of Germany was third.
The next World Cup slalom on the calendar is in Chamonix, France, on January 9.
