The Grand Prix in Breckenridge was more like a World Cup with all the European teams traveling to the event to compete. With the cancellation of Avoriaz, the Grand Prix was the only major event going on before Christmas.
As always the halfpipe at Breckenridge resort was full size and one of the best this season so far. With the 17ft transition the riders were making the most of the huge air to be had.
OWIA Athlete Hannah Trigger was training well when she had a fall while doing her training run, suffered a concussion and was unable to compete in the event. Hannah will make her debut at her first major event this season in the World Championships at Whistler in January.
Andrew Burton was in fine form during training, mixing it with the top US riders for technical skill and amplitude. Unfortunately Andrew had a few mistakes in his competition run and missed the top four placing from his heat which was needed to qualify for the finals.
Andrew finished in 10th place in his heat and 28th place overall from a 96 man field.
The team will now take two weeks off over Christmas and start up again January 4 to prepare for the World Championships to be held from January 17th-23rd.
