Torah Bright has finished in second place in the Winter X Games halfpipe in Aspen, Colorado, declaring her candidacy for a place on the Torino 2006 podium.

Salt Lake 2002 gold medallist Kelly Clark of the United States won the prestigious pro event, with a best single run score of 93.33 points.

Bright was languishing in eighth place on 50 points after the first run of the final, but produced the second highest score of the day in her second trip down the pipe, posting 90 points to secure the silver ahead of Japanese rider Soko Yamaoka.

Although top American riders Hannah Teter and Gretchen Bleiler, as well as two of the leading Europeans, were not competing, the event was still an interesting guide to Games' form.

Apart from defending Olympic champion Clark, the field included the 2004 World Cup champion in Yamaoka, and four members of the current 2006 World Cup top ten.

Bright goes to the Games with a fine record in the Olympic pipe in Bardonecchia, having won the 2004 World Cup event at the venue and collected bronze medals in the two 2005 events.
