BUENOS AIRES 2018: Do you have what it takes to capture the passion of sport in a photo, a video or with words? The third cycle of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Young Reporters has been launched for young creatives to report on the forthcoming Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018.
The Young Reporters initiative will bring 30 young reporters from five continents to the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Buenos Aires (Argentina), which will take place from 6 to 18 October 2018. The costs of flights, accommodation and meals are included, and all equipment will be provided for the duration of the Games.
The Australian Olympic Committee is able to nominate one female and one male Australian reporter to the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) who will then submit a total of two females and two males from the Oceania region to the IOC for final approval to head to third Summer YOG.
Once at the Games, the Young Reporters will have access to the Youth Olympic Village and all the sports, and will receive intensive training from some of the top names in Olympic reporting in print, photographic, television, radio and social media.
This group of Young Reporters will also be joined by teams from Argentina (the host nation for the YOG 2018) and Switzerland (the host nation for the Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020).
This is a great opportunity for budding media professionals and a proven pathway to success in the industry. 23 individuals that participated in the program at the Singapore 2010, Innsbruck 2012 and Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games were fully accredited as written, photographic or television reporters at Rio 2016.

IOC Candidate Requirements
- Aged between 18 and 24 years of age (as of 30 September 2018).
- Tertiary students of journalism/media or working as reporters.
- Full proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Available to attend the full duration of training (training begins in Buenos Aires 30 September 2018)

AOC Submissions Process
Applicants will submit a portfolio of their work in sports media.
This may include any pieces of written content, videos or photographs. A proficiency in social media will also be looked upon favourably.
This portfolio will include your best work and attempt to highlight your passion, performance and promise.
A combined total of five written articles or videos and/or ten photos will be accepted for each applicant.
You must also provide a CV with references.

A panel at the AOC will then look over the submissions and select one male and one female applicant to then forward to ONOC for their consideration. Those individuals will be contacted and will be announced as the winners on the AOC website.
ONOC is able to select two males and two females (this may include one, both or neither of the successful Australian applicants) from the Oceania region. These applicants are then submitted to the IOC who will conduct interviews with them and make the final call on their acceptance into the program (for the full timeline and detail on this process click here>>>).
