Alisa Camplin has been named as Victoria’s best sportsperson, the second time she has been so honoured in the annual VicSport Awards, and the Flying Kangaroos named Victorian’s best women’s sports team.

Camplin won the Kitty McEwan award as the best Victorian sportswoman from pursuit silver medallist at the world cycling championships, Katie Mactier, netballer Sherelle McMahon and world sailing championships laser class silver medallist Krystal Weir.

Alisa then edged out Tour de France cyclist Baden Cooke, the winner of the green jersey as the Tour’s leading sprinter last year, for the Victorian Governor’s Award for Sportsperson of the year.

She originally won the award two years ago for her Olympic gold medal. This year's award was in recognition of her number one world ranking and record seven wins for the season.

Alisa, Lydia Ierodiaconou, Liz Gardner, Lainie Cole and Trudy McIntosh shared the state’s premier women’s team award.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Kitty McEwan award, Kirstie Marshall was also recognised as one of only two four-time winners – along with Cathy Freeman – of that award.
