In a clean sweep for the local skaters, Susanna Poykio won the event from Alisa Drei, with the bronze going to Elina Kettunen.
Drei is currently ranked 11th in the world, with Poykio in 13th place. Lina Johansson of Sweden, who finished one spot behind Carter, is number 16 on the world rankings.
Meanwhile, Janna Kupec has made an impressive debut to international junior figure skating, placing 16th of 38 skaters in the short program of a major Junior Grand Prix event in Chemnitz, Germany. Although she slipped to 23rd overall after a 24th in the free skating, it was a promising performance by the Adelaide 16-year-old.
The Ladies event was won by Finish skater Kura Korpi, who had hed the short program and placed fourth in the free program, but hung on to take the gold medal, Second was United States skater Danielle Kahle, while the bronze went to another US girl, Katy Taylor, who had been placed well back in 12th position after the short program but moved up nine places with the best performance in the free skate.
