George took over the @AUSOlympicTeam Instagram account on Sunday to give our followers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look in to the Opals training camp on the Gold Coast.

BASKETBALL: The journey to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games moved one step closer for the Aussie Opals last week as the Australian Women’s Basketball team had their first Team camp for 2019.

The camp is the first step in a big year for the Opals that includes the 2019 FIBA Asia Cup and the start of the FIBA qualifiers for the 2020 Olympics and 2022 FIBA World Cup.

Niggling injuries along with a mixture of European and WNBA commitments - with the 2019 season beginning next month - saw some key players miss the camp. However one very familiar face was Rio 2016 Olympian and member of the 2018 FIBA World Cup silver-medal winning team, Cayla George.

George has played on the WNBL circuit for over a decade and made her international debut in Australia's U21 Team in 2006. The 29-year-old knows all the ins and outs of the Team and what it will take for the Opals to secure another Olympic experience at Tokyo 2020.

George took over the @AUSOlympicTeam Instagram account on Sunday to give our followers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look in to the Opals training camp on the Gold Coast.
