April saw the exciting launch of Olympics Unleashed into South Australian high schools, along with some special Olympics Unleashed visits up and down the east coast of Australia.
Olympics Unleashed launches into South Australian High Schools
Dual Olympic marathon runner Jess Stenson and Tokyo 2020 weightlifter Kiana Elliott helped launch the Olympics Unleashed program into South Australian High Schools, at Modbury High School in Adelaide's East.
120 Year 9 students learned first-hand from Jess and Kiana with a joint Olympics Unleashed session. The Olympians shared their journeys in sport and passed on important lessons on resilience, determination and unleashing your passion.
During the presentation, Kiana also invited one lucky student to ‘Have a Go’ at her sport of weightlifting. The student performed brilliantly, lifting the bar high above his head with the whole room erupting into applause.

Elka Whalan attends PSSA Swimming Championships
As part of the Olympics Unleashed program, Olympic silver medallist Elka Whalan attended the NSW Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) Swimming Championships on Thursday 6 April at Sydney Olympic Park, to inspire and motivate the students competing across the two days of competition.

During the event, Elka shared her expertise across the live stream, took part in a meet and greet with the young athletes competing and presented the medals at the end of the event.
Olympians continued to motivate and inspire across the nation
Olympians rounded out Term 1 with visits across the east coast of Australia, with both Sarah Carli and Jessica Borg touring their local areas of South Coast NSW and Bundaberg QLD, respectively.
Tokyo 2020 Olympian Sarah Carli visited schools from Bega to Moruya, Merimbula and Wollongong, inspiring students with her incredible story of resilience and determination, having suffered a life-threatening injury just one-year out from her debut Olympics in Tokyo.

Meanwhile aspiring Taekwondo athlete Jessica Borg headed back to her hometown of Bundaberg, Queensland to speak with local students about her road to Paris 2024 and the importance of following your passion, including a special visit to her old primary school Moore Park Beach State School.
April also saw Olympic gold medallist Suzy Corry speak with students from Oran Park High School, triple Olympian Matthew Gray visit St Philip’s Christian College in the Central Coast of NSW and Olympic silver medallist Taylor McKeown head to Bethania Lutheran Primary School in South East Queensland.
