Olympians continued to inspire students across the nation during March through Olympics Unleashed in schools, six 2022 Olympic Change-Makers attending the Brisbane 2032 Legacy Forum to share the voice of youth and episode 10 of Olympics Unleashed TV!
Clean Up Australia Day
Aussie athletes were out in force in early March helping clean up their local communities as part of Clean Up Australia Day.
Tokyo 2020 Diver Sam Fricker joined morning TV to promote the importance of cleaning up our local environment and to encourage Aussies to get involved.
The team at Paddle Australia took to the waterways across the east coast to do their part in clearing rubbish from the riverbank.
Meanwhile, despite being overseas for the World Walking Teams Championships, Dual Olympian Rhydan Cowley took part in a local beach clean-up in Muscat, Oman and encouraged his followers back home in Australia to join a clean-up initiative in their local areas.
Students across the country inspired through Olympics Unleashed
March saw some inspiring Olympics Unleashed visits spanning the breadth of Australia, from the northmost tip of Queensland to the south-west of Western Australia.
Olympian Josie Tomic and Youth Olympian Sophie White took to the Great Southern region of Western Australia, sharing their stories with young Australians from Kendenup, Mt Barker, Albany, Cranbrook, Tambellup, Broomehill, Katanning, Nyabing and Woodaniling.
On Thursday Island, Yuin racewalker Beki Smith and Dunghutti boxer Brad Hore brought the Olympic spirit to the Torres Strait, visiting Tagai State College and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. The pair shared their story with over 200 local students, before participating in the Indigenous Marathon Foundation’s International Women’s Day Fun Run with the local community.
Meanwhile, Olympic Gold and Silver medallist Brooke Hanson encouraged students across the NSW North Coast to chase their dreams. During her tour, Brooke visited the high schools of Grafton, Maclean, Orara and Toormina.

Olympic Change-Makers provide Voice of Youth at Brisbane 2032 Legacy Event
Six 2022 Olympic Change-Makers had the exciting opportunity to attend the Brisbane 2032 Legacy Forum, joining over 500 people from across the nation to contribute their ideas on how to maximise the legacy of a home Games.

Txai Anglin, Kailu Luffman, Samara Cosijn, Angus Bathe, Mia Bergh and Aiyahna Browning provided the voice of youth to the Forum, sharing their ideas on the future of sport in Australia and the strong legacy opportunities of the Brisbane 2032 Games.

Olympics Unleashed TV
To round out the month, episode 10 of Olympics Unleashed TV was broadcast to students across Australia, featuring Olympians Sam Fricker, Holly Young, Blake Edwards and Mel Wu.

The episode saw Year 6 students from Jasper Road Public School take a tour of the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, home of the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and the NSW Institute of Sport. The students also put the athletes through their paces with a round of Q&A, where they learnt more about the sports of Water Polo and Diving.
Finally, Tokyo Olympian and host Sam Fricker put on a show and gave the students an insight into the sport of Diving, showcasing his tricks off the 3m springboard and 10m platform.
