The Flying Kangaroos competed in the US Aerial Skiing team selection trials last weekend, Liz Gardner performing the best of our team to take second place behind US number one Kate Reed.

Jacqui Cooper produced the highest scoring jump of the competition, a 91.03 double twisting double somersault.

Missing from action was world number one, Lydia Ierodiaconou, taking an enforced break from training and competition with a minor case of patella tendonitis.

With all the top competitors restricting their routines to double and single twisting somersaults – full-full and lay-full – Reed posted 171.96 points to defeat Gardner on 167.77.

Third place went to Kelly Hilliman of the US on 162.33 points, with Cooper on 161.50.

Lainie Cole was in sixth place and Bree Munro in 10th.
