Ramone Cooper has finished his second mogul skiing training session in Vancouver in a positive but surprised frame of mind.

Ramone Cooper has finished his second mogul skiing training session in Vancouver in a positive but surprised frame of mind.

Cooper lifted his level of skiing as he completed five runs down the Cypress Mountain course, skiing longer sections and testing his knee on the jumps for the first time.

“Yeah, it’s surprising,” he said.

“Yesterday I took it a little bit easy, just felt it out and today I tried to approach it like I had two healthy knees and just tried to take it out of my mind and just ski how I would otherwise and it seemed fine. It didn’t take too much away from everything else.”

“I was still taking it easy, especially on the jumps, just doing a few small jumps, and skied a little bit slower in the steep, but it feels pretty good.”

“When I was skiing I’m not really feeling much pain and the stability’s good with the knee brace and – yeah – I took some jumps at the end of the session which were probably as big as I would do for a trick in competition, and the impact was fine with that.”

“So I think that once I do bring in the tricks and bring it into a full run, hopefully I can stay at the same level of health.”

The Perisher skier intends to take a rest day before resuming on Thursday afternoon Australian time.
